Up

South Carolina has one meeting a year where any member of the organization is allowed to attend (spouses are always welcome).   This meeting is usually at the same place and time around the 15th of April.  At this meeting, officer elections, selection/nomination of Primary/Alternate delegates  to go to the National BVA conference is chosen and the budget for donations to our local blinded support groups and agencies are discussed for distribution.  Below lists this year's scheduled annual meeting.

Annual Meeting

The South Carolina Regional Group of the Blinded Veterans Association (SCRBVA) meeting this year was a conference call. The Conference Call was available for all members within South Carolina. The meeting was held on 6 May 2010 at 2:00 pm. The call did not last no longer than 45 minutes. The following officers were elected:

President - Cheryl Gajadhar
Vice President -  Alexander (Al) Beresh
Secretary – Noah Love

Treasurer - Clarence (Gene) Huggins
Chaplain – Kenneth (Ken) Clark
Sergeant of Arms – Vacant

Cheryl Gajadhar volunteered to go to the National BVA Convention in Washington, DC with an approved stipend of $1700.00 from BVA to curtail high costs of the 4 day convention.  There were no special speaker. Additional comments addressed were:
     (1)  Need to find Sergeant of Arms to fill vacancy.

     (2)  Donation of $500.00 went to the Columbia VIST Coordinator for Glaucometers for satallite clinics in the surrounding areas of Spartanburg.

     (3)  No mini reunion for ABRCAA this year.

     (4)  Some states are not having any ongoing

conventions due to lack of participation and funds.  (Researching problem with  an active resolution – to be discussed at BVA convention w/other presidents).

      (5)  BVA to sponsor June and December support group luncheons at Golden Corral (Columbia, SC). (Budget $500.00).

      (6)  Newsletters – June (to all active members only)

      (7)  Create a motivation drive of first 50 BVA members to receive a “complimentary BVA cap” by returning the response card.

      (8)  The meeting was then adjourned.
